Due to an increase of distributed generation and an increase of the number of different electricity markets uncertainty exists about the effect on the required amount of control and reserve power. The research question has been defined as: Which agreements and measures are required to secure a reliable electrical energy supply with the lowest costs and the lowest environmental impact as possible without having insight on a central level in the available production capacity and the expected load for the next period of time? This means that all parties consider themselves what the desirable available control and reserve power should be.
The execution of the project consists mainly of two parts:
1) Getting more insight into the effects of an increase of distributed generation on the required amount of control and reserve power.
2) Giving a solution to the main research question mentioned above by first dividing the main research question in several sub questions. The answers to these sub questions can then later be integrated to the final solution. This final solution should comply with all demands and wishes of the participants in the process of the electrical power supply and with the demands of supervisors and governments. The agreements and measures should be such that sustainability and limiting the use of energy are stimulated and such that the security of supply is realized with the lowest costs as possible.
